Please join us for Rice Design Alliance 2009 Gala - HUE: Contributing to a Vibrant Community, honoring Phoebe and Bobby Tudor for their many contributions to Houston's cultural life. at the Hilton Americas Hotel, 1600 Lamar. The evening will include dinner, a silent auction, and dancing to the music of Fried Ice Cream. Saturday, November 14.
Phoebe and Bobby Tudor have chaired many fundraising events for a variety of non-profits organizations and have given generously to Houston’s cultural life. A substantial gift to Rice University helped fund the rehabilitation of Autry Court, now Tudor Fieldhouse. The refurbished facility benefits not only the basketball players but provides a much better experience for the fans as well. Bobby is co-chair of Rice’s Centennial Campaign which has a $1 billion fundraising strategy to launch Rice into its second century. The campaign has reached more than half its goal and will provide funds for new buildings and improved campus facilities. Phoebe Tudor holds a Masters degree in historic preservation from Columbia University and is chair of the Julia Ideson Library Preservation Partners. She is leading the challenge to raise $38 million to expand and restore the historic building.
Heading up the event are Gala Chairs Mikki Hebl, an associate professor of psychology at Rice University and her husband, David Harvey, Jr., president of D. E. Harvey Builders; Underwriting Chair David Andrews, PGAL; Auction Chairs Shelby Holman and Kim Kaase, The OFIS; and Environment Chairs Bob Inaba and Randall Walker, Kirksey.
Come join 1,000 architects, design professionals, engineers, contractors, developers, and RDA members at this popular annual event. Funds raised will support the RDA’s 2010 programs and its journal Cite: The Architecture + Design Review of Houston.
