Talento Bilingüe de Houston is proud to bring back Las Nuevas Tamaleras written and directed by Alicia Mena. This fun-filled show will be featured at the Wortham Center in the Cullen Theater on November 7th, 2009 at 8:00 pm.

Las Nuevas Tamaleras is a one-act bilingual comedy that captures three contemporary Latinas in an uproariously comical attempt at making tamales for the first time. The show erupts when the spirits of Doña Juanita and Doña Mercedes appear on the scene to invisibly guide the younger generation of women. The situation becomes even more outrageous and entertaining when the experienced tamaleras disagree on the proper way to make the perfect tamal. The new tamaleras blunder through the daunting task, frustrating their spiritual guides and delighting the audience.

Talento Bilingüe de Houston is honored to have had this hilarious production first premier in 1991 at TBH. Since its premiere, playwright Alicia Mena has produced Las Nuevas Tamaleras yearly to sold out houses throughout the country, making it one of the longest running Latino/a plays.
