Gallery 1724 is pleased to present new works of Julia Fernandez-Pol in the east room and Valerie Powell in the west room. The opening is Saturday, November 7 from 8-10pm and runs until December 31, 2009. Our current exhibitions of Julia Fernandez-Pol and Valerie Powell have been extended until Saturday, January 16.

Fernandez-Pol is an Argentine-American currently living and working in New York City. Her artwork features beautifully rendered, visually decadent drawings of dynamic forms found in nature. She describes these as “landscapes of microscopic and macroscopic scale that are developed organically based on ideas of circularity, regeneration, accumulation, and decay.”

Powell, a recent arrival to Huntsville, Texas, has lived and exhibited across the United States. Her artwork involves invented worlds of pattern, keeping time, and fragility. She intersects materials such as shrinkable plastic with painting, sculpture and installation.
