Virtuosi of Houston, the city’s young artist’s chamber orchestra composed of young, gifted musicians, presents their Inaugural Concert of the 2009-2010 Season, Sunday, December 6, 2009 - 7:30 PM, in Zilkha Hall at the Hobby Center for the Performing Arts.

Virtuosi of Houston opens its fourteenth season with a chamber music concert featuring Pleyel’s Symphony in C minor, Beethoven’s Coriolan Overture and Mozart’s Symphony No. 35 in D Major. Founding Artistic Directors and Conductors Franz Anton Krager and Andrzej Grabiec will conduct along with music enthusiastic Monzer Hourani as a special guest conductor for the Coriolan Overture.

Virtuosi of Houston, a non-profit arts organization, is a premier youth chamber orchestra celebrating its fourteenth season. The musicians, ages 11 to 18, are from the greater Houston area and are selected from annual auditions. Unlike most youth orchestras, the educational focus of Virtuosi of Houston is on chamber music. The limited size of the orchestra, 50 players, requires the young artists to perform at an exemplary level. Artistic directors and conductors are Franz Anton Krager and Andrzej Grabiec, who are also faculty members at the Moores School of Music, University of Houston.
