Rudolph Projects ArtScan Gallery and local poets Radames Ortiz, Lupe Mendez and Byron Jones have joined forces to bring Houston @Wired: A Multimedia Explosion of Poetry

@Wired is a revolutionary approach to exposing the literary masses to a new type of poetry reading. By incorporating social media, music, song, imagery and technology to enhance their poetic performances, @Wired seeks to reconstruct the poetry reading and to engage local creatives to actively participate in making a unique event even more special. @Wired is crossing creative lines and bringing together a range of Houston artists to create an experience that blurs the lines of art, technology and genre.

    Featured Poets and Performers include:

@radameso: performance will include poetry scored by abstract electronica and video projections arranged by electronic musician and composer Trills (Jonathan Jindra). By fusing poetry with dark ambient soundscapes, glitch music, circuit bending, and intense digital imagery, they will explore the connection and complexity of human life through the psychology of words, sound and image.

@thepoetmendez: performance will include his poetry with fellow capoeirsta, Tony "Parana" Rodrigues. Parana will accompany him with the most traditional of capoeira instruments, the berimbau. - the berimbau is made from a long (biriba) wooden shaft, the shell of a dried squash (cabaça) and one slender metal wire. It is this instrument and Mr. Rodrigues' talent that make Lupe's poetry a resounding work of art.

@byronjonespoet: performance will include spoken word and poetry accompanied by @PurposedBand bass guitarist Anthony Walker. Byron will explore intangible questions about spirituality with his impassioned tongue-twisting verse and incantatory voice. Walker's Urban-Gospel-Funk bass style will accentuate the vocal rhythm and lyrical integrity of Byron's poetry.

Electronic musician and composer Trills (Jonathan Jindra), Capoeirsta, Tony "Parana" Rodrigues and Gospel-Funk bassist Anthony Walker will be performing alongside their respective poet. Technology is welcomed and encouraged at @Wired. Bring along your smart phone, netbook or laptop and add your real-time impressions, feedback and personal style via microblogging to the event.

A live Twitter-feed will be projected on-site to actively engage the audience during the performances. Follow us on Twitter at www.twitter.com/wiredpoetry.
