    CONTEXT, a Houston-based chamber-music ensemble, presents CONTEXT: Quintets, Sunday, November 22 at 4pm in Rice University's Duncan Recital Hall.

    This is the kind of concert CONTEXT has become famous for: seminal works of art, freshly examined, and presented in revelatory performances on magnificent period instruments by their best players. Lorenzo Coppola returns with his achingly expressive clarinets, to join a quartet of CONTEXT's renowned string players for canonical Quintets by  von Weber and Mozart. The music is well known, but the musicians and instruments will make you hear it as if for the first time. With a rarely heard gem: a Trio by Haydn featuring the unusual period basset-horn.

    Featuring:  Lorenzo Coppola, clarinets; Jean-Michel Fonteneau, cello; Maria Lambros, viola; Sergiu Luca, violin; Cristian Macelaru, violin.
