Ovations presents Deborah Boily: French Collection, December 5 and 6.

Deborah Boily will once again reprise her popular French Cabaret one woman show and celebrate the release of the new second CD of French songs called "French Collection...Deux". The show will feature Piaf, Brel, Aznavour, Yves Montand, Serge Lama galore!! and much more.

Plus, there will be a special videotaping on Sunday night the 6th. ALL CDs will be available at the shows and will make great Christmas/stocking gifts. Accompaniest Hal Lanier will again perform with Deborah.  Hal and Deborah originally created the French Cabaret shows back in the early 90’s. He is on both French Collection CD recordings. They will be highlighting the beloved Piaf and Brel songs much loved by all, plus a new medley of French songs that became American standards AND to celebrate the release of the new CD “French Collection…Deux” they will feature many of those selections in the evening as well. 

Deborah Boily has been working in the Cabaret world for 15 years as well, creating her own one-woman shows in French and in English. Deborah has brought her music to New York, Washington D.C., L.A. in the U.S. as well as the Fringe Festivals in Canada and in the summer of 2000 to Edinburgh, Scotland. While living in Paris, Deborah was a regular at the Hotel Westminster and while living in London, performed at The Green Room, Pizza on the Park, CentreStage and Jermyn Street Theater during her 2 years there. 

Debbie says, "I see every song as a monologue where the character needs to express what she feels. My hope in being that character for "3 minutes" is that the audience will say 'Yeah! I get it!' or better yet, 'Yes, I feel that same way!'.

A connection is made from song to singer to audience. There are two kinds of singers," she says. "A singer who believes the words and music are the star where the singer is the messenger, and a singer who believes the words and music are there merely as a vehicle allowing the singer to show off." Debbie always lets the song be the star, even though she has a marvelously powerful vocal instrument.

"In my mind, it's all about telling the story," she adds.
