League City Proud presents Holiday in the Park Festival & Parade: The Holiday Polar Express 2009, December 3-6 at League Park.  Free Admission!

The purpose of League City Proud is to promote and assist in the League City community. Provide a variety of charitable, civic and social activities for people who are interested in the assistance in promoting and establishing a sense of pride in the City of League City. Each year, this group of ambitious volunteers hosts a wonderful event call Holiday in the Park Festival & Parade. This year’s theme is The Holiday Polar Express 2009.

Festivities kick off on Thursday Night December 3rd when the Carnival opens to the public. Then come bring the family out on Friday Dec. 4th Free Movie in the Park – “The Polar Express” @ 6:30 p.m. Hospice Care Team Tree Lighting Ceremony at 6:00 p.m. On Saturday morning December 5th at 9:30 a.m. come see the “Children’s Candy Cane Parade” Dress in Holiday Attire. Any child up to 10 years old can be in the parade. Decorate your bikes, trikes, and wagons!! Parade ends with a visit from Santa Claus.

Bring your cameras this is so much fun. Stick around with your kids, listen to the entertainment, do some Christmas shopping at the many booths. Let the kids enjoy the carnival.

At 5:30 Main Street will close for the Annual Lighted Grand Night Parade!! This is something not to be missed!! The Parade starts at 6:30. You’ll need to get there early to find a good spot along the parade route. Trophies are awarded for Overall winner, Large Business, Small Business, Civic Club, Church, Band, Car/Truck/Float, Walking Group. Last years overall winners was Cub Scout Pack 603.

Bring your pets to The League City’s Walk in the Park. This is the Annual Pet Parade on Sunday December 6th at 3:00 to sponsor the Bay Area Pet adoptions prizes will be awarded for Best Dressed Dress you pet in their best for a Walk in the Park. Best dressed pet that expresses the spirit of Walk in the Park and the Christmas season. Owner/Pet Look Alike How much do you and your pet look alike? The ones who most look alike/dress alike. Best Pet Trick Let your pet show it’s skills. Singing, dancing, anything! Don’t lose heart there’s always the Judge’s Reserve for someone and their pet who did not win a prize. The Judge’s feel that one contestant is deserving for the enthusiasm and energy shown.

10:30 – 11:00 Dorp Express Musical Puppet Show presents “The Polar Express” at the gazebo
11:00 – 11:30 McWhirter Elementary Choir
11:30 – 12:00 Dorp Express Musical Puppet Show at gazebo
12:30- 1:15 Amy Blake’s Academy of Dance to “The Polar Express”
1:30- 2:00 Bay Area Christian School Choir
1:30 – 2:00 Dorp Express Musical Puppet Show at gazebo
2:00 – 2:30 Victory Lakes Intermediate Orchestra
3:00 – 3:30 Dorp Express Musical Puppet Show at gazebo

6:30-8:30 Lighted Grand Night Parade (Main St. closes 5:30 p.m.)
9:00 – 10:00 DJ Mark Duverney turns up the dance music! Park closes at 10:00 p.m.
