    The Jewish Community Center of Houston presents a lecture series entitled Influence and Identity: 3 Ways of Being a Jewish Composer. Featuring Richard Lavenda, (pictured) Professor of Composition and Theory and Director of Graduate Studies at the Shepherd School of Music, Rice University

    The question of what makes a piece of music Jewish has long been a source of discussion and dispute. The three lectures of this series will focus on the music of three composers, all of whom, in one way or another, have written Jewish music. These lectures will take place at the JCC.
