    During this discussion we will explore the history and diversity of Latin American cinema by looking at the present moment and pondering about its future. There will be several clips from past and current works from the whole continent.

    Margarita De la Vega-Hurtado (Ph.D University of Michigan, 1992) began her career as a film critic in Bogotá. She taught at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor for nine years and has curated film festivals about Latin American cinema, Colombian cinema, documentary and independent cinema. For five years she was the Executive Director of The Robert Flaherty Film Seminars (New York.) Margarita is currently developing a program of film discussions, titled Cinematheque at Rice Cinema and working on the Houston Cinema Arts Festival.
