In keeping with the mission of The Ensemble Theatre and the theatre’s commitment and goals set forth in this year’s artistic report, you have been invited by The Ensemble Theatre’s Artistic Director, Eileen J. Morris, to participate in a hands-on Getting Into The Business Workshop lead by Omari Tau of the Disney production of The Lion King.

This workshop is being offered FREE to artists such as yourself to enhance your individual knowledge of how to get into the performing arts industry and be successful. In this session you will learn the tools necessary to get into the business. You will learn the dos’ and don’ts of the performing industry. This workshop is being conducted by an expert instructor who will give you individual feedback tailored to your specific needs.

Sacramento, California native Omari Tau attributes much of his vocal style to the influence of the church, but his in-depth study of classical voice, composition, education and contemporary vocal interpretation have also shaped him greatly. After attending the Booker T. Washington High School for the Performing and Visual Arts in Dallas, Texas, Tau pursued his Bachelor's degree in Music Education at Michigan State University where he studied voice with baritone Harlan Jennings and was also encouraged to study choral conducting and composition. He then got his Master of Music in Vocal Performance at the University of Houston Moores School of Music studying opera with director Buck Ross and classical voice with mezzo-soprano Katherine Ciesinksi.

Once again the workshop is free, and will take place in the performance centre this Sunday, December 20, 2009 at The Ensemble Theatre, 3535 Main. 1:00pm-2:30pm. Please respond to kedrickbrown@gmail.com  confirm your attendance.
