    The biggest popular hit of Resnais' long career, this sparkling romantic comedy is dedicated to Dennis Potter. The film borrows the PENNIES FROM HEAVEN device of characters lip-synching to old pop songs, but in a more fluid, fragmentary way that follows the contours of subjectivity a la Resnais.
