The Country Playhouse BLACK BOX PRODUCTIONS presents Pig Farm, By Greg Kotis. Directed by Gene Kato.  Running Fridays and Saturdays, February 5-20 at 8pm, with a MATINEE: Sunday, February 14 at 2pm, plus Thursday, February 18 at 7:30pm.

Tom is a struggling but dedicated pig farmer who hates the government because of its intrusions into his business. His wife, Tina, resents pig farming because she wants a baby and Tom is too busy to be bothered. Tim is their young hired hand, on work release from juvenile hall. As they wait for an inspection visit from an EPA representative, Tom has Tim counting the pigs -- there are about 15,000 of them -- while he dumps the pigs' fecal sludge in the river. All three of them seem to have been dropped on their heads as babies.

Wallow in the slop of this hillbilly hog heaven, a parodic presentation on corporate factory farming and a group of dimwits who work one of the farms.

Pig Farm, which premiered off-Broadway in 2006, is brought to you by the writer of Urinetown.

The objective of Black Box Productions is to present shows with a more liberal content and shows that it would not necessarily be possible to mount on our Cerwinske Stage. The black box space was originally named “Theatre Lab” and was generally home to a wide variety of original works, including those by the CPH playwright-in-residence, Diana Howie, and the occasional commercial production (Peter Shaffer’s Amadeus in 1996 for example).
