Christ Church Cathedral presents the exhibition Who Are The Homeless? - Photographs by Bob Levy, in the Christ Church Cathedral - Great Hall,  January 15 - February 22, 2010. Opening Reception: January 22, 2010,  6 - 8 PM.

Bob Levy, trained as a chemical engineer, retired from a career in the petroleum industry and began photographing the homeless. He tries to expose some of the ways stereotypes of homelessness separate us from them. Through their faces he evokes a connection that might challenge us to meet them with curiosity and grace rather than suspicion and loathing. We can begin to appreciate their compassion, their intelligence, their hope and courage, their sincerity and dignity. His hope is that the viewer will catch a glimpse not only of a face, a life and a person, but of the ways we carry homelessness within ourselves.

The photographs in the exhibit were taken during the past three years of clients at The Beacon, the homeless center operated by Christ Church Cathedral. The individuals photographed were all willing participants and were offered prints of their images. Proceeds from sale of images in the exhibit will be donated to The Beacon.

In 2008, Bob published a book, titled “Who Are The Homeless?”, in collaboration with Gretchen Heyer, a writer who captured the stories of many of the subjects. The book is available at blurb.com. For each book purchased, three dollars will be donated to the homeless. Email address: bob@boblevy.org  Phone: 713-664-4151.
