Brigid's Place is proud to present Womanhood on Fire: Celebrating Our Voices, Gifts and History With Brigid's Feast, Sunday, January 31, 2010 at 6:00pm, in the Live Oak Friends Meeting House. Join us for our annual celebration of St. Brigid lead by Dr. Mylene Dressler.
Join the women of Brigid’s Place as we gather together Houston’s wise women, healers, artists, poets and seekers to honor the Celtic Saint Brigid and the power and flame of women everywhere. This year we celebrate the saint’s Feast Day and the ripening of the New Year with movement and breath, poetry and silence, chant and rhythm. Leading us in this very special tribute will be noted speaker, author and feminist, Dr. Mylene Dressler.
Featured Speaker Dr. Mylene Dressler is a noted author, speaker and feminist whose novels include The Medusa Tree and whose work has been praised as “lyrical” by The Houston Chronicle and as “splendid” by The New York Times. A former ballet dancer and university professor, she leads workshops in creativity, inspiration, and women’s empowerment, and has crafted a uniquely moving event for Brigid’s Place. To read more about her work, visit www.mylenedressler.com.
Bring your hands, your heart, and your appetite for creativity and community. Food and refreshments provided. Come, kindle your fire.
