As part of its One-Person Play Series, and coming directly from a successful Off-Broadway run, Unity Theatre presents The Amish Project  January 28 - 31.

A terrible shooting inside the Amish School of Nickel Mines in Lancaster, PA, where five girls died, and five were seriously wounded. From this tragic headline comes a story of redemption, forgiveness and hope against all odds in The Amish Project.  Jessica Dickey gives a one-person tour-de-force performance in this play which honors the goodness forged in the face of tragedy and brings us face-to-face with the true meaning of faith and forgiveness. Told with honesty, sympathy and even humor, you will walk away with a renewed sense of compassion and hope for your fellow man.

Ms. Dickey easily slips from character to character surrounding the cataclysm inside this school, but she visits that only obliquely, as she is far more interested in the side dramas that tie us all together. How could the Amish truly forgive such a heinous crime? What was this like for all the families, including that of the killer? And what is that Hispanic grocery clerk doing there? A lot, as it turns out.

Performances are Thursday, January 28, at 7:30 p.m.; Friday, January 29, at 8 p.m.; Saturday, January 30, at 8 p.m.; and Sunday, January 31, at 4 p.m. If you ever wonder why people go to the theatre -- this is the reason! There are only four performances, so call now for tickets for this amazing theatrical event.

The Amish Project is being presented at Unity Theatre under the sponsorship of Jerry and Jill Kyle. For more information, call the Box Office at 979-830-8358 or visit online at UnityBrenham.org.
