Palmore Productions, UTake1 Productions and Kendrick Brown proudly present the Houston premiere of Susan-Lori Park’s Pulitzer Prize winning stage play Topdog/Underdog, in a limited engagement, February 5th, 6th and 7th at the Ensemble Theater’s Audrey Lawson (Black Box) Arena.

Topdog/Underdog is the premiere production of “The Black Box Series” an anthology of intimate productions conveying the African-American cultural experience. Quick witted and fast paced, Topdog/Underdog is the story of a former three card monte hustler gone legitimate and his younger brother, a petty thief with aspirations of riches at any means necessary. This is the quintessential tale of one’s misguided yearning for the American Dream from the most disparaging circumstance. Delving further into the opening scene of Park’s American Play, Topdog/Underdog exposes the struggle of brothers as they battle with an inheritance of familial disparity, pitting the two against one another since childhood.

Under the debut direction of Kendrick “Kay” Brown, Joseph “JoeP” Palmore and Terren Jerrod Gamble incarnate the roles of brothers “Lincoln” and “Booth” as they battle it out in a “fraternal struggle of interdependence…” But there can only be one Top Dog.

Topdog/Underdog plays Friday 2/5 at 7:30 pm, Saturday 2/6 at 8pm and Sunday 2/7 in a 3 pm matinee performance at the Ensemble Theatre 3535 Main St. Houston, TX. 77002 Tickets are $20.
