The 23rd Annual ConocoPhillips Rodeo Run will kick off the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo™ with a pavement-pounding 10K race and 5K fun run/walk on Saturday, Feb. 27, 2010. More than 13,000 athletes are expected to participate this year.

All ages are welcome to participate in the annual ConocoPhillips Rodeo Run, with entry fees donated to the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo Educational Fund. With its $245,000 donation in 2009, ConocoPhillips has contributed more than $2.2 million to the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo’s Educational Fund since the race began in 1988.

Join the expected 13,000 participants and dash through the streets of downtown to lead the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo™(HLSR) Parade past thousands of spectators. Runners and walkers will experience Houston’s only point-to-point 10K race and 5K fun run/walk in a festive atmosphere that celebrates the city’s western heritage. A combination of Texas flavor and hospitality, along with a Texas-sized post-race party, makes the event one of the most popular and memorable races in the region.

"The Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo is an amazing Houston tradition and we are proud to be a part of this annual celebration," said ConocoPhillips Rodeo Run registration director Marshall Cohen. "We hope to increase participation in the race again this year to raise a record amount of scholarship funds for youth scholarships."

The race begins at 9:30 a.m. at the intersection of Texas Ave. and Smith St. and finishes with a Texas-sized post race party at Minute Maid Park.

This year, the ConocoPhillips Rodeo Run launched a Facebook page to utilize a new method of communicating information to past and potential participants. By becoming a fan on Facebook, fans can stay up-to-date on the latest news, information and also keep an eye out for special offers.

Gold sponsors of the race include Bank of America Merrill Lynch, Bechtel, Brooks, Chartis Insurance, Continental Airlines, Fulbright and Jaworski LLP, GE Oil and Gas, Halliburton, Luke’s Locker and McJunkin Red Man Corporation. Silver sponsors include Accenture, A-Rocket Moving and Storage, Deutsche Bank, Houston Astros, Securitas, Staples Promotional Products, The Royal Bank of Scotland and Zachry.
