    Houston Civic Symphony presents their Young Artist Concert,  Thursday, March 11, 2010 at 8:00 p.m. Free Admission.

    The Young Artist Concert features the winners of the Houston Civic Symphony annual Young Artist Concerto Competition. Concert will also include: Torke-Green and Brahms-Academic Festival Overture Concert.  The Concert will be held in the Morris Cultural Arts Center(Dunham theater) at Houston Baptist University 7502 Fondren Rd. Houston, TX 77074.

    Houston Civic Symphony is pleased to announce the following Winners in the 2010 Young Artist Concerto Competition:

    Junior Division

    * First Place: Melissa Du, (pictured above) violin, performing Concerto No. 2 in d minor, first movement, by Henryk Wieniawski
    * Second Place: Ethan Le, violin, performing Concerto in C, Hob Vlla, first movement, by Joseph Haydn; and Patrick Pan, violin, performing Symphonie Espagnole, by Edouard Lalo
    * Honorable Mention: Claire Wood, violin, performing Symphonie Espagnole, by Edouard Lalo

    Senior Division

    * First Place: George Fan, bassoon, performing Concerto in F, first movement, by Johann Hummel, and Kenny Wong, violin, performing Concerto in D major, third movement, by Beethoven.
    * Second Place: Edward Chen, violin, performing Symphony Espagnole, first movement, by Edouard Lalo; and Andrew Shiau, cello, performing Concerto No. 1 in A minor, first and second movements.
    * Honorable Mention: Brandon Simon, violin, performing Violin Concerto Op. 14, first movement, by Samuel Barber.
