Saturday, March 6 Talento Bilingue de Houston presents another in the Target Literacy Program series, 2:00 PM- 5:00 PM.  Our fifth Target Literacy workshop is in collaboration with RougeArt and Et Voilà Théâtre and is subtitled Target Literacy through Visual Arts and French Poetry.

This time families will have an opportunity to interact first hand with international artists while painting on canvas, body painting, acting and writing poetry. Karine Parker-Lemoyne curator and artist of Métamorphose, an interactive art exhibit housed at TBH, will invite you to express your creative impulse! Karine and Marie-Pierre Stien will lead you in the art of painting on canvas and body painting, while writers Marcia Chamberlain and Jesus Avila will coach you on ways to put into words such multisensory experiences.

The workshop is free, so register ahead of time to secure your spot.

TBH offers families one literacy workshop each month, free of charge. Please subscribe to our newsletter to receive monthly updates or reserve a spot.

Talento Bilingüe de Houston [TBH] together with Target have teamed up to introduce education through the arts with a bilingual [Spanish/English] Literacy Program. It began in Houston in 2008 at TBH and has since introduced an average of 25 families to world of writing, reading, painting, cooking, dancing, and the visual arts.

Workshops are put together once a month on a Saturday from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. in conjunction with TBH’s performing and visual arts programming. To encourage families to be involved with the arts, we have teamed up with professional artists to facilitate these workshops. Children, parents, and grandparents collaboratively bring the arts into their lives. Many participating families also receive free tickets to many of TBH’s productions, where they can attain an even greater sense of how reading and writing are essential in the arts.

Due to the high demand, we have a limited these free workshops to 25 families per session. Families that participate in at least 6 workshops by the end will be acknowledged with a special gift from TBH and Target.

Pre-registration is highly recommended. To register email program coordinator, Leslie Gauna at literacy@tbhcenter.org, and include your contact information (name and telephone), the workshop you would like to attend, and specify the number of family members participating.
