NANO Fiction, Gulf Coast Journal, and The Menil Collection host The Third Annual Houston Indie Book Festival, Saturday, April 3,  from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Menil Park: 1515 Sul Ross Street, Houston, TX 77006. Through a collaboration with The Menil Collection and the Council of Literary Magazines and Presses, NANO Fiction and Gulf Coast are proud to host this year’s Houston Indie Book Festival, at Menil Park. The event is completely free and open to the public, beginning Saturday, April 3 at 10 a.m. and closing at 5.

Now in its third official year, the Houston Indie Book Festival remains the only event of its kind in the Houston and Austin areas, featuring a variety of nationally-distributed literary journals and small-press books alongside local booksellers, book and magazine publishers, small presses, literary organizations, and writers.

We expect this year’s festival to be the biggest and best ever, featuring more than forty regional exhibitors and vendors. This year’s participants include Arte Publico Press, American Short Fiction, Brazos Bookstore, Brown Bookshop, Domy Books, Gulf Coast, Houston Public Library, Houston Read Commission, Inprint, Kaboom Books, The Menil Collection Book Store, Writer’s League of Texas, and more!

Gift certificates and other items will be raffled off throughout the day and Houston’s best and brightest writers will read from their work on the hour every hour. So take a much-needed break and see what Houston’s bibliophiles have to offer!

Founded in 2006 by Kirby Johnson and Jennifer Eberhardt, NANO Fiction publishes twice a year with issues appearing in the spring and fall. NANO Fiction is based out of Houston, Texas. Please visit their website at http://nanofiction.org.

Founded in 1986 by University of Houston faculty members Philip Lopate and Donald Barthelme, Gulf Coast: A Journal of Literature and Fine Arts publishes and promotes quality literature in our local and national communities, and seeks to teach excellence in literary publishing to graduate and undergraduate students. In addition to the Houston Indie Book Festival, Gulf Coast hosts the Gulf Coast Reading Series at Brazos Bookstore. Gulf Coast is published twice annually, in April and October. The Menil Collection is a museum dedicated to preserving and exhibiting the art collection of Houston philanthropists John and Dominique de Menil. Its diverse holdings represent many world cultures and thousands of years of human creativity, from prehistoric times to the present day. Assembled over the course of many decades, the collection—which continues to grow—is widely recognized for its depth and eclecticism. At the Menil visitors view art in a tranquil, contemplative setting. Admission to the Menil is always free of charge. Website:  http://www.menil.org/.
