Four former Lone Star College-CyFair art department students are featured in FotoFest 2010 Biennial - Lone Star College-CyFair, an international photography exhibition in the Bosque Gallery March 11 through April 8.  Houston’s FotoFest 2010 Biennial, held in museums and art galleries throughout the city, is the longest running and most acclaimed photography biennial in the United States.

This year’s exhibition at LSC-CyFair focuses on the contributions of four extraordinary women who have contributed to the culture and education of art at LSC-CyFair, said Troy Huechtker, photography instructor. Maggie Baldwin, Brittney Connelly, Rebecca Krepick and Nikki Rogers all decided to specialize in photographic media.

“Demographically, around 70% of students taking photography have been women. Therefore, the contribution of women to the art department and photography specifically has been profound,” he said. “The four women exhibited are a sample of many who are still working in photography today either by majoring in photography at another institution or working in the field of art and commercial photography.”

Meet the artists at the opening reception set for 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Thursday, March 11. Then come back to the campus for some Women’s Month activities held throughout March to celebrate, teach and empower women.

Gallery hours are 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesdays through Thursdays. The gallery is located the Center for the Arts on the Barker Cypress campus at 9191 Barker Cypress.
