The Jung Center of Houston presents Bert Long's RED Book: New Paintings Inspired by C.G. Jung, on view April 17 through May 28, 2010.

Houston legend Bert Long presents an exhibit of works reacting to the recently published Red Book, C.G. Jung's personal journal. Bert Long has brought his highly personalized style and sophisticated knowledge of complex philosophical issues to the creation of fifteen new works based on what Jung called his "confrontation with the unconscious".

Bert Long, known as both a visionary and a realist, may just be the perfect artist to interpret this profound work published in 2009.

While initially self-taught, Long is an accomplished painter, sculptor, and photographer who has devoted his life to developing his craft. He has also worked as curator, and installation and performance artist, testing the limits between art and the everyday. In his richly eclectic canvases and sculpture, Long draws on his upbringing in Houston´s Fifth Ward, his life experiences, his self-awareness within today´s cultural climate, and his far-seeing aspirations for the future.
