Exercise, eat right, and buy art April 10 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Cross Creek Commons. The Cross Creek Ranch Fine Arts Festival set for Saturday, April 10 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. may well prove to be an event not to be missed.

Under the direction of Mitch Cohen, founder and coordinator of the First Saturday Arts Market in the Heights, Houston's only and longest running monthly outdoor fine arts event now in its sixth year, this event at Cross Creek Ranch will offer the original works of up to 70 professional and emerging fine artists from across Texas.

The first annual Cross Creek Ranch Fine Arts Festival features artists who hail from eighteen cities around Texas and represent a vast array of art media including paint, illustration, photography, metal, glass, wood, leather and fiber arts. Musicians from Houston and Fulshear entertain, there will be food from local restaurants, a children's zone and artist demos scheduled throughout the day.

Cohen said, “There will be something for everyone’s budget.” This is the first of what will become an annual event in Fulshear.

Mitch Cohen spent 20 years as a muralist and fine decorative artist before becoming involved in the organizational aspects of art and community events and has assembled a wonderful menagerie of artists from the traditional to the avant-garde. Cohen’s tag line is “Exercise*Eat Right*Buy Art. He helped form Houston’s White Linen Night that drew 30,000 people in August where he remains on the steering committee. Cohen said, “From my stand point, it is always about helping artists by providing them a venue.” He still paints and is currently moving back to oil and is exploring abstracted realism.
