April 10-April 11, 2010
Add Review/Comment
The Japan-America Society of Houston presents the Houston Japan Festival, Saturday and Sunday, April 10th and 11th, 2010!
Every year, our society hosts a Japan Festival in the center of Houston - Hermann Park. Nearly 20,000 people visit our festival. For an entire weekend, the festival grounds are packed with excitement while continuous performances of Japanese music and the martial arts dominates nearby stages.
The annual Japan Festival also provides a wide assortment of interest from local vendors and restaurants while festival volunteers perform in the Japanese garden (adjacent to the festival itself). This year, we are celebrating our 17th year hosting the Japan Festival. JASH is very proud of our festival and welcomes everyone to experience the Japanese culture first hand. There is no admission fee.
The Japan-America Society of Houston (www.JASHouston.org) instituted the festival in 1993 in the hopes of developing a stronger relationship between the greater Houston community and Japan. Each year, the event provides a rich blend of stage entertainment and an impressive array of food and beverages for everyone to enjoy. The festival is located adjacent to the Japanese Garden and nestled around the large reflection pond.
First time Japan Fest attendees are instantly amazed at the vibrant sounds of taiko drums, rich flavor of Japanese cuisine and beautiful visions of Ikebana (Japanese flower arrangements) and Bonsai. As an educational sources for everyone, festival-lovers also witness authentic tea ceremonies, martial art demonstrations and children's activities.
