Frenetic Theater presents Projected.2010: New Visions of Sound and Light, a celebration of works blurring the lines between fine arts, performance and cinema. Saturday, May 1, at 8pm at Frenetic Theater, 5102 Navigation Blvd, Houston, TX, 77011.

PROJECTED is a presentation of artists, dancers, musicians and filmmakers using digital cinematography and projection to create new forms. PROJECTED will also provide new context for existing video works by surrounding them with live performance. From single channel documentary works, to multi-channel interactive projections to performances of dance and projection, PROJECTED will present an eclectic offering of work being created with sound, vision and light.

PROJECTED.2010 will feature work and performances by:

    Hillerbrand + Magsamen
    Tierney Malone
    Architects of Cinema
    Robert Thoth
    Matt Crawford & Che' Rickman
    David Wolcott Wilhelm
    Spectrosonique
    Alex Luster, Stick ‘Em Up
    John Carrithers
    and more

“The idea is to provide a forum for filmmakers and performers to bring their work to a live audience, more of a “gig” than a screening. I hope that PROJECTED.2010 will be the first in an ongoing series where filmmakers and lighting designers, musicians and dancers can pull together new kinds of collaborations and presentations.” says curator Chris Nelson. “I want to take art video out of the gallery and documentary video off of the computer screen, and provide a space for a projected “jam session” where new ideas can develop.”

Nelson is digital filmmaker currently serving as an Artist in Residence for Frenetic Theater. He is co-creator and director/editor of the Toypunks documentary series.
