Free Press Houston presents the Free Press Summer Fest 2010, June 5th and 6th, 12pm-10pm in Eleanor Tinsley Park on Buffalo Bayou.

After the unprecedented success of Houston’s first outdoor music festival, Free Press Houston and Pegstar.net are proud to announce the Free Press Summer Fest 2010. Last summer’s event showcased everything from local indie rockers to national touring bands like Of Montreal and Broken Social Scene. This music and arts festival will be held June 5th and 6th at Buffalo Bayou's Eleanor Tinsley Park and will feature more than 50+ national and local musical performers, visual arts and games.

Confirmed to headline this year is the Grammy Award winning band The Flaming Lips - and that’s just the beginning! The festival is expanding its horizons to include a more diverse array of both national and regional acts. And though the overall lineup is incorporating a wider geographic range – Houston’s finest musicians will continue to play a vital role in creating and maintaining the unique spirit of the Summer Fest.

2010’s festival welcomes the addition of a third stage and an exciting expansion of the scope and area of artist installations. In addition to the array of sights and sounds, festival-goers can take a break from the heat and browse dozens of local artisan booths, cool off in one of the misting tents and grab an icy cold adult beverage in the shaded beer garden.

Fest Sustainability - Free Press Summer Fest has a strong commitment to keeping the park beautiful and works with the local community and businesses to do so. A portion of proceeds from Free Press Summer Fest benefit Buffalo Bayou Partnership which is a 501 (c) (3) non-profit corporation that is responsible for developing and facilitating improvements to the Buffalo Bayou greenway system. Free Press Summer Fest uses a comprehensive and targeted recycling plan with the help of Greenie Recycling Company to sort aluminum, plastic, glass, and paper. All carbon output is balanced by Carbon Offset Credits. Free Press Summer Fest encourages all of its attendees to ride their bikes if they can do so. Fence area for bike lock up is provided. In 2009, we had more than 2000 bike riders! In 2010, Free Press Summer Fest will be giving a FREE bottles of water to anyone who recycles 10 plastic bottles.

Pre-sale general admission passes will begin at only $22.50 and the “Fancy Pants” 2-day package is available to those looking for a more comfortable festival experience with access to air-conditioned tents for just a little more money.

No pets, weapons, or outside food & beverage.  For more info email info@freepresssummerfest.com.
