Hooks-Epstein Galleries is proud to present Pang-Chieh Hsu: Solo and Solo+Solo+..., an exhibition of watercolors by Pang-Chieh Hsu. The exhibition opens on Saturday, May 1, 2010, with a reception for the artist from 6:00pm - 8:00pm. The exhibition will continue through May 29, 2010.

Pang-Chieh Hsu, states, "As our society heads into a new era, the most influential power for the coming generation is the Internet. It shapes the notion of "World". A virtual world is generated, while many concepts in the real world are challenged. If religion is the setting for the art of the Renaissance, the Internet certainly is a comfort in modern life and in context in contemporary paintings."

In Solo and Solo+Solo+..., Pang-Chieh Hsu shows how men are appreciated in different worlds. Hsu states, "On the web, people tend to make the first impression, the very best impression. Physical and sexual images dominate the web pages." This series depicts this phenomenon.

Pang-Chieh Hsu received his BFA at the School of Visual Arts in New York in 2000. In 2003, he received his MFA from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst. He is also an Associate Professor of Painting at Armstrong Atlantic State University in Savannah, GA. He was awards a Camargo Foundation Fellowship (2009), a grant from The Pollock-Krasner Foundation (2008) and an Edward F. Albee Foundation Fellowship (2007). Pang-Chieh Hsu is currently in the Artist-in-Residence Program in Roswell, NM.
