 Please join HCCC (Houston Center for Contemporary Craft) for a special celebration of fashion and contemporary craft, at The Paper Runway Opening Reception & Artist Studio Event,Friday, June 4, 5:30 – 8:00 PM.  Free & Open to the Public. Sponsored by PaperCity Magazine. The evening will celebrate the openings of two new exhibitions, The Paper Runway  and In Residence 2009, as well as the open studios of our current artists-in-residence (AIRs).

Guests will enjoy champagne, wine and light bites. Inspired by the marriage of fashion and craft in "The Paper Runway," our current AIRs have created their own outrageous, avant-garde body adornments, which will be worn by models circulating throughout the event.

Some of the pieces include a crocheted body sculpture and headdress by mixed-media artist, Elaine Bradford; an Elizabethan-inspired life-size brooch by metalsmiths/jewelers, Gabriel Craig and Amy Weiks; and a chunky ceramic neckpiece by ceramic artist, Jeff Forster, that incorporates recycled materials.
