It's springtime in Texas and the gardens are growing at Barrington Living History Farm. Saturday and Sunday, May 29-30, anyone and everyone can come for a day in the garden. Learn about the foods pioneers grew to feed their families in the Brazos Valley in the 1850s. See the heirloom varieties Republic of Texas President Anson Jones may well have been growing on his farm. This is definitely a hands-on-event and a chance to let kids young and old dig in the dirt.

You can help pick vegetables to be cooked over the hearth, make a sachet to sweeten up a drawer or closet and even take home a garden in a bag and watch your own flowers and vegetables bloom. You can also enjoy demonstrations of seed-saving, hearth cooking and making herb vinegars in the kitchen.
