    Discovery Green presents a performance by the Summer Jazz Workshop All-Stars, Friday, June 25 at 12 noon.

    Absolutely Astonishing Houston, If you close your eyes and hear the absolutely astonishing sounds of the teenage students in the 39th Annual H-E-B Summer Jazz Workshop you wouldn’t know that they were children. Playing a variety of styles, from Duke Ellington to originals written by staff and students, the listener will be blown away at the talent level and won’t believe such wonderful sounds could come from these kids.

    The young musicians are part of Jazz Education Inc.’s annual 5-week training camp, held at Texas Southern University and Christi McAuliffe Middle School. Houstonians are encouraged to come hear these future “stars of tomorrow” at Discovery Green Park June 25 and July 9, 2010.

    Sponsored by Jazz Education Inc., the program is funded by H-E-B, Houston Endowment Inc., The Brown Foundation, Inc., Wells Fargo Bank, Lightin’ Records Company and Comcast.

      That was a wonderful show even in the rain. The young man from Eisenhower on the Trombone was very impressive!
