Da Camera of Houston presents the Houston debut of the Arcanto Quartet, Tuesday, October 19, 2010, at 7:30 PM, at The Menil Collection.
The Arcanto Quartet’s first North American tour takes the ensemble to New York (Carnegie Hall), Houston and other major musical centers. Extraordinary violist Tabea Zimmermann returns to the Da Camera stage following her 2008 debut. These four musical soulmates have captured the chamber music world with their spirited playing fuelled by the joy of bringing music to life.
“Freshness, close rapport, finesse and a blend of eloquence and vitality have been hallmarks of [the Arcanto Quartet’s] style ever since its debut...The experience of the Arcanto's members in other musical fields brings individuality to the strands of the quartet texture, which at the same time coalesce and show mature understanding in matters of interpretation.” – London Daily Telegraph
"Their precision is Godlike, while their full-blooded spirit allows a delicate response to tone and phrasing. They're equally impressive driving an argument at white heat." -- The Times of London
