    Stages Repertory Theatre presents The Marvelous Wonderettes, by Roger Bean.  A cotton-candy-colored, non-stop pop musical blast from the past!

    Cast Celebrates 100th Show on December 17; Tickets Now On Sale Through March 13! NOW WITH SING-ALONG FRIDAYS! No need to hum under your breath or muffle your voice - now you can sing loud and proud! Join Betty Jean, Cindy Lou, Missy and Suzy, along with your fellow audience members, for a NEW kind of Wonderettes experience (don't worry, no solos required). Whether you're a musical master or a shower soprano, we hope you'll add your voice to the Wonderettes Prom Songfest, happening every Friday beginning January 7.

    Building on the record-breaking success of its long-running musical hits like The Andrews Brothers, Always…Patsy Cline, and The Great American Trailer Park Musical, Stages now expands its summer musical tradition with an extended run of Roger Bean’s hit 1950s-60s girl group musical The Marvelous Wonderettes, playing July 14 – October 17 in Stages’ Arena Theater. Extended through January 2, 2011!

    Original run: July 14 – October 17, 2010, with performances Weds.-Sun.
    First extension: October 21, 2010 - January 2, 2011, with performances Thurs.-Sun.

    Second extension: January 6 – March 13, 2011, with performances Thurs.-Sun.
    Thursdays 7:30 PM
    Fridays* & Saturdays 8:00 PM
    Sundays 3:00 PM
    * Fridays are Sing-Along Nights!

    Called “one irresistible musical…an utter charm” by The New York Times and “tremendously fun…a delightfully good time” by Variety, the show has enjoyed highly successful runs in New York and Los Angeles. For Stages, Melissa Rain Anderson (Five Course Love) directs Houston musical veteran Holland Vavra Peters (The Andrews Brothers, The Great American Trailer Park Musical) alongside Rachael Logue (Grey Gardens), Chelsea McCurdy (Panto Sleeping Beauty, Panto Cinderella) and Christina Stroup (Panto Sleeping Beauty) to recreate the irresistible 1950s-60s girl group sound.

    Tickets start at $19, with special deals available for all July performances.

    “This show is pure delight and joy, completely in the spirit of Stages’ now-beloved summer musical tradition,” Stages Producing Artistic Director Kenn McLaughlin said. “These amazing voices and harmonies are absolutely spellbinding and these girls are completely irresistible. It’s impossible not to smile as you watch and listen to them!”

    The Marvelous Wonderettes follows four girls from their high school prom to their 10-year reunion. At the 1958 Springfield High School prom we meet the Wonderettes—Betty Jean, Cindy Lou, Missy and Suzy, four girls with hopes and dreams as big as their crinoline skirts, and voices to match! As we learn about their lives and loves, the girls perform classic hits such as Lollipop, Dream Lover, Stupid Cupid, Lipstick on Your Collar, It's My Party, It's in His Kiss (The Shoop Shoop Song) and many more!

    Characterized by courage, generosity, ingenuity, and intimacy, Stages Repertory Theatre advances theatre and enlivens culture by producing new work, interpreting established work in new ways, and nurturing talent for the performing arts field. In addition to its MainStage season of plays, Stages presents the EarlyStages series, introducing young audiences to the power and magic of live theatre. Stages also offers a range of additional education and outreach programs that encourage conversation about important ideas and issues, provide insight into other cultures and viewpoints, and help develop each new generation of citizens, artists and audiences.

    Now entering its 32nd season, Stages is a member of the Fresh Arts Coalition and a constituent of Theatre Communications Group (TCG), the national service organization for not-for-profit theatres. Stages operates under an agreement with Actor’s Equity Association (AEA), the union of professional actors and stage managers in the United States.
