This summer, The Back Porch Players, in cooperation with Stages Repertory Theatre, are thrilled to bring you the side-splitting comedy that had Off-Broadway and Los Angeles audiences rolling in laughter for over 1,000 performances – JEWTOPIA! Playing at Stages Repertory Theatre, Wednesday through Sunday, July 14 through August 1. Directed by Jo Alessandro Marks.

This “Outrageously funny, equal opportunity satire” (The Los Angeles Times) written by Bryan Fogel and Sam Wolfson tells the story of Chris, a gentile who wants to marry a Jewish girl so he’ll never have to make another decision, and Adam, a Jew who needs to marry a Jewish girl to please his family but can’t get a date to save his life. The two friends make a pact – Chris promises that he’ll find Adam a Jewish girl if Adam will bring Chris undercover into the Jewish world to help him shed his gentile ways.

Stereotypes collide, cultures clash, and chaos ensues in what The New York Times called, “Unstoppable, Hilarious, [and] one of the biggest hits!

On August 8th, 2007, The New York Times declared that JEWTOPIA, Blue Man Group and Stomp are the three most successful off-Broadway productions of the last decade! Jewtopia opened in Los Angeles on May 8th, 2003 and seventeen months later had become the longest running original comedy in the history of Los Angeles theatre. Jewtopia off-Broadway opened on September 21st, 2004 to sold-out houses and recouped it's entire investment in a record 16 weeks! It finally ended it's astounding run in New York on April 29th, 2007, having played almost 3 years and over 1200 performances!

To date, Jewtopia has been seen by over 500,000 people across North America and Canada with productions in New York, L.A, Chicago, Florida, Toronto, Tampa and Rochester!

I thought I'd be rolling my eyes, but I was literally rolling in the aisle! So funny! If you're not Jewish, go with someone who is who'll be able to explain some of the nuances of the jokes.
