About the classes:
‘Intro to Silks’ is a workshop for anyone who is interested in learning the basic skills of aerial silks. Using long ribbons of fabric, students will learn basic climbs, keys (locks around the body), and use the fabric for strength training. Classes begin with basic conditioning and move into the air. This is the perfect opportunity to gain strength, have fun, and be introduced to the most popular circus apparatus. Please wear tight clothing and remove all jewelry.
‘Int/Adv Silks’ workshop will allow students with experience to gain a deeper understanding of the intricacies of aerial silks. We will go over the many different climbs, locks, and drops, as well as choreographing in the air. You must have already taken an aerial silks class before and be able to climb.
‘Beg/Int Breakdancing’ is a workshop that will teach the most important fundamental movements of breakdancing, from footwork to ground work, freezes and basic power moves. It is recommended that the students bring knee pads, elbow pads and bennies.
‘Intro to Partner Acrobatics’ will explore weight sharing, lifting and balance between two people. Explore what it means to support the weight of another person and help them maneuver through space. Focus on two-person balances, how to self spot and help others through the skills, working up to sitting and standing on shoulders. Creative shapes and balances will be the key to getting to know your own and your partner's abilities.
Reyie Delgado is a native from Monterrey Mexico who has danced with City Dance Company, Freneticore, Sol y Luna Dance Company and Hope Stone Inc. In 2009 Reyie was accepted in to Canada’s Ecole Nationale du Cirque and now attends The New England Center For Circus Art.
Deena Frank comes to the circus world through her extensive training in dance and acrobatics. Deena is the Artistic Director of MOTH Aerial Dance Theater, is a Certified Yoga and Gyrotonic Teacher and a Professional Circus and Aerial Coach at the New England Center for Circus Arts.
