Galveston Arts Center is pleased to announce the Third Annual Swashbuckler’s Soiree will be hosted at the Texas Seaport Museum, home of the celebrated 1877 Tall Ship ELISSA on Saturday, July 17, 2010.

This year’s pirate bash will include a silent auction, great food, ale for all and entertainment to shiver ye timbers! Doors will open to the public at 6:00 pm and bidding on silent auction items will continue until 9:00 pm. Tickets will be $12 each at the door, $10 for GAC members. Pirate attire is encouraged! The proceeds from this evening of nautical nonsense will benefit Galveston “Arrrrts” Center’s exhibitions and education programs.

Raffle tickets will be on sale at the event or may be purchased in advance at the Arts Center’s current location at the corner of 25th and Market Streets. Drawing for the raffle will take place at 9:30 pm. The winner must be present to receive a certificate for a 4-night Caribbean cruise for two adults donated by Silver Leaf Resorts, Inc. A second drawing will be held for a pair of freshwater pearl stud earrings courtesy of Vic’s Estate and Fine Jewelry. Tickets are $20 each or 3 for $50.

Silent auction donations include a one-night hotel stay at The Tremont House, bottle of Crystal Head Vodka autographed by Dan Aykroyd, original works of art by Margaret Biehl, Pinky Diablo, Jamie Ellis, Ellen Stivison, Loretta Trevino, and others. Del Papa Distributors and Railean Rum will provide beverages. Galveston’s Lunchbox Café and Little Miss Cupcake will be among those providing galley grub for hungry scallywags. To date, donations to the silent auction have been received from Arts and Frames, The Front Parlor, Galveston Historical Foundation, Hendley Market, and the Historic Downtown Strand Seaport Partnership.

Proceeds are tax deductible and benefit the Galveston Arts Center and all of its public programming?including free admission at all times to exhibitions of contemporary art, the presentation of art education outreach programs for underserved populations in our community, and the production of ArtWalk, one of Galveston’s favorite destination events.
