Society for the Performing Arts (SPA), presents The Peking Acrobats, at 7:30 pm, Thursday, January 27, 2011 and Friday, January 28, 2011 in Jones Hall. Part of the 2010-2011 "Experience the Magic" Season Family Fun Series.

The Peking Acrobats return to Houston as part of their Silver Anniversary Tour. Hailing from the People’s Republic of China, the gravity-defying Peking Acrobats® amaze audiences with their jaw-dropping displays of contortion and control. The largest troupe of its kind, The Peking Acrobats push the envelope of human possibilities with treacherous feats of daring! Carefully selected from the finest acrobat schools in China, these gymnasts, jugglers, cyclists, and tumblers transform 2,000-year-old athletic disciplines into a kaleidoscope of entertainment and wonder.

This troupe of China’s most gifted tumblers, jugglers, cyclists and gymnastics, complemented by the live music on stage, make for a breathtaking, often hair-raising event for the entire family. With acts called “Magic Carpet Ride,” “Human Pyramid” and “Colorful Contortionists,” audiences never know what to expect.

The Peking Acrobats will be joined by the Women’s Peace Orchestra of China, who play traditional Chinese instruments with 21st-century sophistication and flair.

Encore Café - Come early and enjoy Chef’s Chinese specialties for purchase before the performance.
