You won't want to miss this month's Steel Lounge Underground--we promise!

Presented with Derek Jones and Josh Zulu, this music event showcases Houston's diversity and talent by bringing together musical artists representing a variety of genres. During the event, the audience is invited to explore the stimulating exhibitions on view while enjoying the music. This month's talented lineup: Derek Jones & Josh Zulu, DJ Chicken George, and Auto Body. There is no charge for admission; cash bar and gourmet food by Houston's latest food sensation, Fusion Taco.

Steel Lounge Underground will be held 8-11pm the last Fridays of May-August; upcoming dates are July 30 and August 27.

    ABOUT THE MUSICAL ARTISTS
Derek Jones' love affair with soulful dance music began one afternoon in 1994 while gently stroking his fingers through the sands of the Black Rock Desert in Nevada. Primarily known for his deep and soulful house sets, he also spins dub reggae, disco, hip-hop, jazz, and exclusive remixes. Derek creates live sound-scapes at a variety of art and live music venues throughout Houston. More than just entertainment, Josh Zulu's eclectic sets are interactive and enlightening experiences that stick with the audience. Josh pushes the limit by inspiring the audience to enjoy something new from a different time or place, to simultaneously feel the music and expand their mind. Josh, like Derek, is a member of the Soular Grooves collective.

DJ Chicken George's (CG) unique "Jazztronica" style of incorporating and fusing diverse genres of music has granted him several international appearances in Sweden, Paris, Amsterdam, Vancouver, the Middle East, and across the U.S., including Los Angeles, New York, Detroit, and Philly. CG has shared the stage with a wide range of talent including the one and only Grandmaster Flash, The Wailers, Pete Rock, Jazzanova, John Legend, Cody ChesnuTT, Spoon, Echo and the Bunnyman, Biz Markie, Grupo Fantasma, The Neptunes, Saul Williams, The Roots, Talib Kweli, DJ Jazzy Jeff, Sharon Jones & The Dap Kings, Afrika Bambaataa, Antibalas Afrobeat Orchestra, and Erykah Badu.

This month's music feature in Houston magazine, Auto Body is made up of Tibaut Bowman and Felix Moreno. Their mutual affection for creating electro-based music that blends elements of rock and modern disco led them to form one of the most relentless, high-energy throw downs this side of the Chemical Brothers. Combining a high-octane dance riot with flashing strobe lights and "face-melting" visuals, the live Auto Body experience is an existential shakedown that has dropped jaws from Austin to Chicago and all the way up the east coast.

    ABOUT FUSION TACO

New this year: Fusion Taco, a booming taco truck business brought to you by Julia Sharaby, a locally grown "food-artist" of sorts. Her innovations to the run of the mill taco truck are outstanding, giving all those taco trucks out there a run for their money, complete with short rib tacos, Asian cole slaw, and Indian flatbread. We're not using the word "fusion" lightly here!
