Every third Wednesday of the month at the Artist SPEAKeasy, Spacetaker hosts artists from varying disciplines (visual, performing, literary, etc.) to present, in an informal atmosphere, creative dialogs/talks/presentations about their work followed by a question and answer session where the audience can glean further insight into the artist, the artist's aesthetic and creative process. The evening is designed not only to bring together artists and those who appreciate the arts, but also to introduce local artists to each other to encourage conversation and cross-disciplinary collaboration between artists and their chosen media.

Drinks and nosh are served at 6:30; formal talks are underway at 7:00. Guests are invited to come and go as necessary.

This month's Spacetaker Arist SPEAKeasy features Andrew Karnavas and Vincent Fink.

    ABOUT Andrew Karnavas:
Andrew Karnavas is an acoustic blues and Americana musician in Houston, TX.

Andrew Karnavas is a Houston-based singer/songwriter. His acoustic melodies are a blend of straightforward chord progressions and slow fingerpicking that combine elements of Blues and Americana. The songs are largely introspective, image-driven stories that direct listeners examine a man's relationships and opinions in both pastoral and urban settings. Whether live or recorded, Andrew establishes a profound level of intimacy with his listeners that is seldom achieved. In addition to his solo work, Andrew is the front man for Runaway Sun, a Blues Rock and Americana band that has shared the stage with critically acclaimed piano girl Diane Birch and UK Blues Rock powerhouse Back Door Slam. For more info on Runaway Sun, visit http://www.runawaysun.com.

In the Fall of 2009, Runaway Sun released The Bridge, their debut ten-song LP, and in the Spring of 2010 released Film Noir, a thirteen-song solo debut with acoustic guitar, cello, and violin arrangements. Both of these projects were recorded at Houston's historic SugarHill Studios. Andrew is also a GRAMMY eligible member of the Recording Academy.

    ABOUT Vincent Fink:
I am working really hard on new pieces and at work as a t-shirt artist. Please refer to my site www.vincentfink.com for more info until I'm ready to update. Thanks and I am accepting inquiries about pieces and commissions.

Art is my way of communicating the unspeakable. I am inside this body and I want to learn more about myself through expression. I often shift between a world of high detail and complexity to very dense matter with all the elements of life still intact, but without the fleshy facade. All cryptic charades are eventually unmasked, and sometimes out of random order. and other times, elaborate planning. Always a duality, always an internal struggle to coexist with the sickness as it grows and I enjoy every minute of it.
