The Moores School of Music at the University of Houston presents a Moores School of Music Recital, Sunday, October 10, at 2:30pm in University of Houston - Dudley Recital Hall. Featuring Sooah Chae, (pictured) piano.

Pianist Sooah Chae began her studies at the age of six in her hometown, Seoul. She was an honor graduate from Sunwha High School of Performing Arts and Ewha Womans University in Seoul, Korea. After receiving both Bachelor of Music and Master of Music degrees, she continued to study with Nancy Weems at the Moores School of Music of the University of Houston, where she has earned both Master of Music and Doctor of Musical Arts degrees. Dr. Chae also earned Performer Diploma at Indiana University under the guidance of Edward Auer.

Her teachers include John Weems and Horacio Gutierrez. She has been a featured performer of a number of master classes, and played for such artists as: Abbey Simon, Micha Dichter, Christopher O’reilley, Martin Canin, James Giles. She has given numerous recitals, as a solo and collaborative artist, in the United States, Korea, and Iceland. She is a prizewinner of numerous competitions including Texas Young Artist Competition, Ruth Burr Competition, and Texas Music Teachers Association Competition.

Sooah Chae has been invited to summer festivals including Park City International Chamber Music Festival and Kent/Blossom Music Festival. Her performance of Beethoven’s ‘Emperor’ concerto with the Moores School of Music orchestra was broadcasted on KUHF. Dr. Chae was also invited as a soloist for Clear Lake Symphony Orchestra and the Symphony North of Houston.
