McGonigel's Mucky Duck presents Bob Schneider

Bob Schneider is a fixture on the Austin scene, having kicked around for years in various bands before embarking on a solo career. He dropped out of the University of Texas at El Paso to front his first band, the funk-and-rap outfit Joe Rockhead. The band independently released three albums before disbanding immediately prior to signing with a major label.

A stint with a jamming, slightly Phish-y outfit called the Ugly Americans followed, which experienced some success as an opening act for the Dave Matthews Band and Horde. In 1997, Schneider went on to co-found the Scabs, where he made a further name for himself as a crotch-grabbing frontman.  In 1999, Schneider became a solo act, though performing at first under the band name Lonelyland.

Bob Schneider continues his quest to be indefinable with his latest musical entries "I'm Good Now" and "The Californian". One was recorded over a grueling six-month period, while the other was recorded in four days at Jack Rock's legendary studio in Austin, Texas. Both showcase Bob's incredible chameleonic ability to seamlessly morph from one musical style to the next. His imaginative lyrics and amazing hooks keep coming through though, no matter what style he finds himself in. His fellow Texans as well as his rabid U.S. fanbase will testify to his abilities, as he has become the most awarded singer songwriter in Austin's history, winning over thirty Austin Music Awards.

Bob Schneider has captured a loyal fanbase around the USA with his solid musicianship, lyrical storytelling, and impish onstage persona. His scruffy good looks and strong, husky voice provide a good complement to his semi-confessional songwriting.

After a terrifying plane crash left him uninterested in getting on planes, Bob chose to take a break from flying and focused on touring the United State an average of 200 days a year. However, Bob has announced he is flying again and plans on touring the world in 2008. When Bob is not making music or performing, he continues to create art through designing his own album art, packaging, posters, and T-shirts, while also showcasing his fine art at local galleries.

The real beauty of Schneider's artistic career is about the freedom to constantly write, record and stockpile songs. While he's already released hundreds of songs with his bands, Schneider estimates there were at least a thousand songs that didn't fit his band's concepts. Expect new music very soon..
