The Jung Center of Houston presents Blame it on the Scapegoat. Therapist Virginia Angel explores the consequences of shadow projection. Thursday, October 14, 7:30 - 9 pm.

What is it that drives people to place blame outside of themselves for their own shortcomings and fallibilities? Explore the origins and evolution of scapegoating from historical, psychological and cultural perspectives, as we come to understand it as a universal and archetypal phenomenon. When we are unaware of our shadow—those parts of ourselves that we ignore or reject—our discomfort, fear and anxiety make us intolerant of the differences of others.

Jung's concept of teleos, or wholeness, provides the overarching solution to the problem. We will examine how and why scapegoating happens, and what we can do about it.

Virginia Angel, JD, MA, LPC-Intern, is a psychotherapist intern practicing in Houston. She holds degrees in political science, jurisprudence, and depth psychology. She received her master's degree in counseling psychology from Pacifica Graduate Institute.
