On Wednesday, August 4 at noon the Rothko Chapel presents its monthly meditation program, The Twelve Moments of Spirituality and Healing. This month the program is led by Gaelyn Godwin (pictured) of the Houston Zen Center.

Gaelyn Godwin, Roshi, is a Zen master and the Abiding Teacher of the Houston Zen Center. Rev. Godwin, ordained as a priest in 1991, lived and practiced in Zen monasteries in the United States and Japan for 18 years before moving to Houston in 2003 at the invitation of the Houston Zen Community (HZC).

Houston Zen Center was founded in the early 1990's by Robert Schaibly, a Unitarian Minister at First Unitarian Church in Houston, and several friends. The group is open to people of all faiths who are interested in learning meditation. It offers daily meditation along with classes and retreats on Zen and topics related to Zen meditation. http://www.houstonzen.org/.

About the Series:  Twelve Moments of Meditation and Healing is co-sponsored by the Rothko Chapel, Jung Center of Houston, Ligmincha Texas Institute, and M. D. Anderson Cancer Center. The series is committed to the idea that spiritual practice can offer the possibility of physical and psychological healing as it deepens a sense of meaning and connection to inner values. Meditations take place on the first Wednesday of every month.
