    Houston Civic Symphony January Concert

    Houston Civic Symphony will perform their January Concert Friday evening, January 21 at 8 pm at the Morris Cultural Arts Center on the Houston Baptist University campus. Brian Runnels, Music Director of Houston Civic Symphony, will conduct.

    Houston Civic Symphony will perform their January Concert Friday evening, January 21 at 8 pm at the Morris Cultural Arts Center on the Houston Baptist University campus. Brian Runnels, Music Director of Houston Civic Symphony, will conduct.

    The concert features Jennifer Isadore, winner of the Symphony’s Member Concerto competition held in August. She will perform L. Liebermann’s Concerto for Flute and Orchestra, Op. 39. “We were stunned by the number of entrants, and the quality of the performances in our competition,” noted Al Thomas, Symphony President. “Jennifer was the best of the best.”

    Mrs. Isadore holds a degree in Flute Performance from DePaul University, and a Masters in Flute Performance from The University of Missouri Kansas City Conservatory of Music. She currently is an Adjunct Professor of Flute at Lamar University, freelance musician in the Houston area, former President of Houston Flute Club, and principal Flute of Houston Civic Symphony. In her “spare” time, she is Payroll Coordinator for Community Educational Television, Channel 14.

    Also on the program for the concert are Orchestral Suite No. 3 in D Major, J.S. Bach, and L’Oiseau de Feu (The Firebird Suite), 1919 Version, I. Stravinsky.

    Houston Civic Symphony is Houston’s oldest and finest community orchestra, now performing in its 44th concert season. Additional information can be found at www.civicsymphony.org.
