Society for the Performing Arts (SPA), bringing the world’s best to Houston, is pleased to announce this year’s 14th Annual Fall Luncheon will feature dancer, actor and best-selling author of “The Women Who Raised Me”, Victoria Rowell (pictured). This year’s luncheon is being chaired by the dynamic duo of Arvia Few and Soraya McClelland and will take place on Thursday, October 7, 2010 at River Oaks Country Club. The event will begin with a champagne reception at 11:30am followed by lunch at noon. Recipient of the Ann Sakowitz performing Arts Advocate Award is Patricia P. Hubbard.

Rowell began her run as Drucilla Winters on ‘The Young and the Restless’ in 1990. She also appeared on eight seasons of ‘Diagnosis Murder’ from 1993 and 2001. The hard working actress continued working on ‘The Young and the Restless’ while she played the role of Amanda on ‘Diagnosis Murder.’

Rowell won 11 NAACP Image Awards for her work on ‘The Young and the Restless.’ Rowell left the soap in 2007 when her character was killed off. Rowell is no newcomer to penning a novel. In 2007 she wrote her autobiography, ‘ The Women Who Raised Me: A Memoir,’ which became a ‘New York Times Bestseller.’ It also received The African American Literary Award.

Since 1966, Society for the Performing Arts has built a reputation as the most innovative community-oriented nonprofit presenting organization in Houston. Last season, more than 100,000 Houstonians enjoyed SPA’s performances. All funds raised at this event will benefit the education and outreach programs of Society for the Performing Arts.

Tickets for this luncheon begin at $150.00 per person.
