On Wednesday, September 1 at noon the Rothko Chapel presents its monthly meditation program, The Twelve Moments of Spirituality and Healing. Our monthly meditation series features Ali Kemal in September, who will lead a reflection on Islamic meditation and prayer.

Mr. Ali Kemal Civelek was born in 1970 in Istanbul, Turkey. He graduated from Bilkent University as Industrial Engineer in 1994. Before coming to Houston, he was serving as the coordinator at Boston Dialogue Foundation. He is currently working as General Coordinator of Islamic Spirituality Center, a nonprofit organization founded by the Turkish-American community in 2004. Now he is also currently working on a halfway house project in Houston.

    About the Series:
Twelve Moments of Meditation and Healing is co-sponsored by the Rothko Chapel, Jung Center of Houston, Ligmincha Texas Institute, and M. D. Anderson Cancer Center. The series is committed to the idea that spiritual practice can offer the possibility of physical and psychological healing as it deepens a sense of meaning and connection to inner values. Meditations take place on the first Wednesday of every month.
