MECA presents the NPN Residency Project Celebremos Libertad, September 17th – 19th, 2010.
Celebremos Libertad is a theatrical musical depicting the history, music, and dance of the Mexican Revolution. The play celebrates the valor of women involved in the war through corridos (songs and dances) which memorialize women, such as Juana Gallo, La Adelita, La Coronela, La Marieta, La Valentina, La Rielera and many others.
Written and directed by Peter Webster. Music direction by Saul Avalos and performed by Mariachi MECA; dances choreographed by Julio López, director of the MECA Ballet Folklórico.
Location: MECA Dow School Campus, 1900 Kane Street, Houston, TX 77007.
