Fifth Annual Houston Free Day of Yoga

Discovery Green, in conjunction with the Texas Yoga Association and the Yoga Association of Houston, present the Fifth Annual Houston Free Day of Yoga, Monday, September 6 (Labor Day), 8:30am - 11:00am. Learn about yoga, take classes with teachers you have not experienced, learn a new form of yoga.  And best of all, relax your body and mind.

The Houston yoga community will celebrate the Fifth Annual Houston Free Day of Yoga this Labor Day, Monday September 6, 2010 with an opening event at Discovery Green at 8:30 - 11 a.m. From sunrise to sunset, participating studios across the city will offer free classes as a way for people of every age and every fitness level to try yoga for the first time, experience a new style of yoga or share yoga with family and friends.

Since the event's inception in 2005, thousands of students have joined in the Houston Free Day of Yoga to experience the physical, spiritual, emotional and mental benefits of practicing yoga. Free classes have been offered at over 50 participating studios in communities reaching from the Woodlands to Downtown, Katy to Galveston, from Sugarland to Champions Forrest and all points in between.

Schedule:

8:30 a.m. Indian music, students arrive, meet and greet

9:00 – 11 a.m. Yoga class begins – taught by Nicole Haagenson, Achim Fassbender, and Ann Hyde (30 minutes each). Jennifer Buergermeister will end in a final meditation for peace and global awareness.

11:00 -11:30 a.m. Musical guest Houston Press “Best Female Vocalist” Katie Stuckey will perform from her new album The Old States.
