Wordsmyth Theater Company, in collaboration with Actor's Gym, presents the 2010 American Playwriting Reading Series featuring a reading of  of South Bridge, by Reginald Edmund. Monday, September 13 at 7pm, at Main Street Theater - Chelsea Market.

LYNCH HIM! It’s Athens, Ohio, 1881, and a white woman has been assaulted. As Christopher C. Davis, the accused with an unusual gift, sits in his cell listening to the angry mob, he begins to think back...to peer into the souls of those around him to untangle the truth and understand -- why?

Reginald Edmund was raised in the City of Houston. Most recently he was awarded the Kennedy Center's national runner-up for the Lorraine Hansberry and Rosa Parks National Playwriting Awards in 2009, and named winner of the 2010 Southern Playwrights Competition for his play South Bridge.

His plays, The Ordained Smile of Sadie May Jenkins, South Bridge, Juneteenth Street, The Redemption of Allah Black, and White America which are all part of his nine-play series The City of the Bayou Collection, were developed at esteemed theaters including Bedlam Theatre, Silver House Theatre, the Playwrights' Center, Karamu House, Pangea World Theater, the MacDowell Colony, the Last Frontier Theater Conference and the Black and Latino Playwrights Conference.

Reginald Edmund received his B.A. in Theatre-Performance from Texas Southern University and his M.F.A. in Playwriting at Ohio University. He is Co-Founder of the Unit Collective, an organization of the cultivation and development of emerging artists of color based at the Playwrights' Center.
