Opera Under the Stars at Bayou Bend! Opera Vista presents Simply American Songs and Gifts, Saturday, September 25, 2010. Gates open at 7:15; Performance begins at 8:00 p.m.

On Saturday, September 25, Bayou Bend celebrates the opening of our new Lora Jean Kilroy Visitor and Education Center with free family festivities from 1-5 p.m. That night, Opera Vista presents a magnificent evening concert of American music under the stars at Bayou Bend. A selection of arias will be performed, followed by Aaron Copland´s "Appalachian Spring."

Bring your own folding chair or blanket, and enjoy a memorable evening of music and beauty, a fitting conclusion to a day of Americana-themed events at Bayou Bend.

A lifelong student and patron of music, Bayou Bend founder Miss Ima Hogg envisioned her Diana Garden as—among other things—a venue for concert performances. In keeping, Bayou Bend and its gardens will serve as the backdrop for another fabulous Opera Vista production, the fourth such collaboration between the two organizations in as many years.
